How the Easter sing along all started.
At First, I was only planning Easter Sing Along on Beecher Path. The logistics of getting all the music in sync presented a challenge for one street, let alone the entire neighborhood.
A small group of us worked together for a week getting the same version of the songs Amazing Grace and Proud to be an American downloaded and ready. Next we had to get our speakers hooked up, and then try to figure out how to start the music at the same time.. We even had a dry run to test our system out before Easter. Those involved deserve a big THANK YOU FOR ALL THEIR EFFORTS.

Well the trial went OK, so this email went out to Beecher Path residents.
“In celebration of Easter and our country, Beecher Path residents please join in a driveway sing-along on Easter April 12th at 1 PM. We will be singing Amazing Grace & Proud To Be An American at the end of our driveways. STAY IN YOUR OWN DRIVEWAY, please.
Several neighbors will be playing these songs over a speaker at different locations around Beecher Path and I have attached the words to the songs below. If you don't have a printer Peggy Miller will have copies available at 12:30 pm on April 12th. She will drive by each home to distribute them but please be at the end of your driveway if you want a copy.
Display your flags in support of our country during these trying times. “

WVLG The Villages Radio Station 102.7 FM -Kathleen Kane
It still bothered me that the music was not really synchronized, and the entire neighborhood couldn’t be involved. I had an idea one morning. What if we could get the radio station to play the songs, everyone could tune in and play the songs on their speakers or even car radios, everyone in sync? I sent a note to WVLG and received this response:

Mass Email to all residents of Buttonwood Heights
It took off from there with stories of other neighborhoods also participating. Special thanks to Peggy & Larry Miller for publicizing the event to all their clubs and groups. This brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart to see everyone out and about (with proper social distancing of course). Thank you all for making my Easter special and lifting the spirits of all in our community.
